Dear African Chapter Leaders,

Following on the Global Internet Report 2015, which focused on the mobile
Internet, we wanted to do a bit of follow-up on one key aspect, and that is
the benefits of the mobile App stores, which were started by Apple first
just 8 years ago.

In particular, we are looking at the stores both as a way to access local
and international content and services, but also as a market for
innovations.  In that light, we had a few questions for you about app
availability in countries in Africa.  Many thanks in advance for any input
you can provide.   Please do indicate which country(ies) and which
platform(s) (Google Play, Apple App Store, etc.) you are describing.

In your country, is it possible to download free apps from the app store?
If not, are there other ways to access the apps?

Is it possible to buy apps?  If so, what are the means of payment (e.g.
Credit card, mobile money, etc.)?  If not, are there other ways to get paid
apps?

In your country, is it possible to develop a free app and make it available
through the app store?  If not, are there other ways to make apps available?

Is it possible up develop paid apps and make them available through the app
store?  If not, are there other ways to sell apps?

If there are barriers to downloading or uploading apps, free or paid, do
you know where the barriers come from, and what might be done about it?

Many thanks in advance for any help  - I cannot tell you how valuable it
will be, as it is quite difficult to get this information otherwise.

À la suite du rapport Global Internet 2015, qui est focalisé sur l'Internet
mobile, nous voulions faire un suivi sur un aspect clé, les bienfaits des
App Stores, qui ont été lancées par Apple il y a seulement 8 ans.

En particulier, nous nous penchons sur les app store à la fois comme un
moyen d'accéder à des contenus et des services locaux et internationaux,
mais aussi comme un marché pour les innovations. Dans cette optique, nous
avons quelques questions à vous poser au sujet de la disponibilité de
l'application dans les pays en Afrique. Merci d'avance pour toute

façons d'obtenir des applications payantes?

Dans votre pays, est-il possible de développer une application gratuite et
de la rendre disponible via l'App Store? Si non, y at-il d'autres façons de
rendre des applications disponibles?

Est-il possible de développer des applications payantes et les rendre
disponibles sur l'App Store? Si non, y at-il d'autres façons de vendre des
applications?

Si il ya des obstacles à télécharger ou en téléchargeant des applications,
gratuites ou payantes, savez-vous d'où les barrières viennent, et ce que
pourrait être des solutions aux problèmes?

vos contributions, comme il est assez difficile d'obtenir cette information
ailleurs.
